Preaching End Times

I have talked with several young Pastors in the last few months and many of them have expressed hesitation about preaching on eschatology or end times prophecy. Some acknowledge it is a lack of information and a fear of being wrong. The truth is that there is a plethora of information and knowledge to be had if you know where to look.

I want to encourage you to plan on preaching about the end times because we are experiencing them as we speak. I will admit to you that I preach from a pre-tribulation, pre-millennial bias and much of the information I will be sharing will be from that platform but don’t let that stop you from checking out the site and references I will supply.

I also will be sharing this information from a supernatural Biblical view and with consideration of the Second temple Jewish understanding. In other words how did the jews of Jesus day interpret and understand what Jesus talked about concerning His second coming and the end of time.

Some of the sites that I recommend for study are: skywatchtv.com, drmsh.com, naked bible podcast, miqlet.org and Logos bible software. These are the main study resources that I will use in this study. The last three sites are Dr. Micheal Heiser’s teaching sites and are very interesting. Dr. Heiser was the resident theologian for Logos Bible Software and still writes articles for them.

I have been a student of prophecy and eschatology for the past forty years and I am still learning things about the rapture, millennium, and final judgement that Revelation speaks about in the final chapters. I do not claim to have all the answers and I would be delighted if any of you will share your understanding on this subject. My next article will be about Matthew chapter 24 and the discussion Jesus had with His disciples concerning these future events.
