Improving Your Social Media Presence

Today I would like to talk to you about improving your social media presence.

Why is it important to improve your social media presence. Simple! It provides a clear representation about you and your church or ministry.

It’s extremely difficult to get people to believe that your church or ministry is alive and vibrant when you always appear to be frowning or not alive and excited about the very things you are trying to communicate.

How Can You Begin Improving Your Social Media Presence

Very simple.

First, let’s look into some basic things such as the environment from where you are creating your posts from.

Begin to develop a sort of look and vibe of how you want to represent yourself or church. This goes a long way in getting people to connect with you on a more personal basis.

Simple things like colors, font choices for overlays, including a little “B Roll” video in between segments will go a long way in how your communication appears and relates to those who you are trying to reach.

Social Media Post Pandemic

It should come as no hidden surprise that more and more churches and ministries have turned to social media as a way to communicate with a broader audience since the pandemic began.

With more and more people choosing to stay at home, or reduce the number of “in person” events they choose to participate in based on local guidelines, social media has become a “Safer” way to maintain your communication efforts with a broader audience.

Smile, You’re On Camera

There shouldn’t be a time when you are either taking a selfie or doing a “Live Video” shoot that you shouldn’t be smiling.

When I’m looking or viewing posts or video’s from a Christian perspective, it’s hard for me to relate to that individual if they aren’t smiling.

I want to be able to make a connection.

The easiest way to make a connection is to simply smile at them. I get it that trying to force yourself to talk to a camera or webcam seems difficult at first.

But let’s face it, if people feel as though you are looking and talking to them, you’re going to loose them right from the jump start.

How many times, for those who have children, have you ever told your children “look at me when I’m talking to you?”

We all have at one point or another.

It’s simply the best way to ensure that they are hearing your message and that you can understand that they are getting the message.

It’s no different when looking into improving your social media presence. Furthermore, it simply takes less muscle power to smile than to not smile.

I already knew many of the things that I have briefly touched upon for myself. However, there are so many pastors or people who are in ministry that really have a tough time getting this concept down.

Watch the video below from Brady Shearer to learn even more.

There are so many great ideas on here that he shares and touches on.

Images Are Worth A Thousand Words

The one area that many people struggle with is in creating eye-catching images to use on various social media platforms.

There are tremendous amounts of video tutorials covering this and I encourage you to search for them.

People don’t utilize YouTube enough to learn new things. It’s as powerful of a search engine as that of Google.

However, let me make it even easier. You can begin creating very appealing graphics that are customized for nearly every social media network you may want to use them on.

Canva by far is one of the easies to get started with.

They have a tremendous amount of resources for you that are FREE. You can even opt-in to their paid version to access thousands of various and more inspiring graphics if you choose.

Taking Your Social Media Presence To The Next Level

Much like your church or ministry, everything you do on social media needs to be a clear and conscise representation of who and what your ministry is about.

If you want people to believe you have a church or ministry that is alive and full of life, it’s going to be hard to communicate that on social media if your facial expression almost comes across as being dead or boring.

It’s just the plain and simple truth!
